What is Muay Thai?
Muay Thai is the martial art of Thailand. Known as the science of 9 limbs, Muaythai not only uses strikes from fists and leg kicks, but also elbows, knees and most important, Nak Sou “Soul”.
We provide private one-on-one training at the academy. Cheetah will personally design a program that meets your needs and goals, whether you are a hardcore exercise enthusiast or a beginner, and will train you at a pace appropriate for your fitness level.

Meet Master Cheetah Chanthanao
To say that Chansadeth “Cheetah” Chanthanao lives for Muay Thai would be an understatement. With three decades of experience as a fighter and then a trainer, he is a strong supporter of Muay Thai, and has worked tirelessly to share his knowledge of Muay Thai in America.
Cheetah began his commitment to Muaythai when he was just a boy. After years of grueling training in Thailand’s Muaythai camps, he eventually became a professional fighter. He fought in Chiang Mai, Udon Thani and Bangkok, amassing over 150 fights before coming to America. He has also fought in both the United States and Australia.

I've checked out many gyms in the Bay Area in search of an authentic Muay Thai gym and I have to say Chaiyo is the one for me! Master Cheetah(who brought MT to the bay area since the 70's and is seen as the original bay area MT master) and Miss Cheetah are extremely kind and accommodating so don't be shy if you're a beginner. They adjust classes to the students' skill level and is the most non-ego driven and respectful gym I've ever been to. Very versatile classes, they offer many child/youth classes as well as beginner to competitive muay thai level training. Lots of sparring sessions too.
Good people, good coaches, come join the family. Always new people joining and putting in work, come try it with Master Cheetah and all the awesome folks here. No matter what level you are, no experience, hella experience, you will have a blast.
I was searching for a Muay Thai class near me and came by Chaiyos on Yelp. This was the closest one to Vallejo that seemed like a good fit for me.
Initially, I went there in person but no one was there so I left a message on their line. Master Cheetah called me back within a couple of hours and he was friendly and answered all of my questions. He even set me up for a drop in class the following day to check it out ($30). I was excited! From the get and just talking to him on the phone for less than 10 minutes, I knew he was a great guy!
Upon walking in, I got to see the kids training and I was impressed how well-disciplined the kids were.
This was my first time ever trying out a self defense class. At first I was nervous because I didn't know what to expect but Master Cheetah welcomed me with a smile and made me feel very comfortable. The class was maybe about 20 students and they went at a pace that I could keep up with. For just one class, I learned to round-house kick and throw punches and kicks confidently because Master Cheetah was there to guide me through it.
